BOBO Fridays Food Drive Continues Jan. 15
Donations Will Help Residents In Need

SOMERVILLE, NJ – Residents can help neighbors in need by doubling up on some of their regular grocery purchases of non-perishable food items by donating the second item to “Buy One, Bring One” (BOBO) Fridays. Just look for the blue bins that are located in the vestibule at the Somerset County Administration Building in Somerville on the third Friday of any month. The First BOBO Friday of 2021 is on Friday, Jan. 15, but donations can be brought to the Administration Building on any non-holiday weekday throughout the year from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“Now more than ever Somerset County folks need help putting food on their tables. By donating just one can of food you can make a big difference,” said Somerset County Commissioner Melonie Marano. “If we all work together and pick up a second can of soup or box of pasta during our weekly shopping trip and donate to BOBO Fridays we can help replenish local food bank supplies that have been depleted during the pandemic.”

If traveling to the County Administration Building at 20 Grove Street in Somerville is inconvenient, residents can place a donation of non-perishable food items in a plastic bag, write “FOOD” on the bag with a permanent marker, and leave it out with their regular curbside recycling.

The Somerset County Recycling Division transports donations to the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and items are then distributed to clients of the Food Bank Network and other local food banks. Since 2010, BOBO Fridays has received more than 45 tons of donations. For more information about the Food Bank Network of Somerset County, visit www.somersetfoodbank.org
