SOMERVILLE, NJ – Register for a new, free, disaster-recovery support group, which will meet for six sessions via Zoom starting Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. The goal of the support group is to provide a safe, online community for individuals who want to learn valuable tools for coping with their emotional stress caused by experiencing disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic and Hurricane Ida.

Led by trained crisis counselors, participants will discover how to better cope with their grief, trauma and post-traumatic stress. They will learn how to navigate through their emotions by using a solution-focused and systematic method of healing in a supportive environment using a supplemental tool for mental health management titled “Unprecedented: A Disaster Recovery Workbook.”

Disaster Recovery Support Groups are part of the “Unprecedented” mental health recovery programs, which are sponsored by Somerset County Hope and Healing and funded through a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA ).
