The Bernards Township Health Department conducts a monthly no cost clinic for children who are not covered by health insurance. This program, the 2016 Child Health Conference, ensures that children receive appropriate vaccinations in a timely manner. It is part of the Vaccines for Children program of the New Jersey Department of Health. The clinic is held on the second Tuesday of each month in conjunction with the Visiting Nurse Association of Somerset Hills. The goal of this program is to eliminate vaccine-preventable disease in children. The services provided are:
• Growth and development assessments,
• Immunizations for newborns through children 18 years of age using the age appropriate Recommended Immunization Schedule from the CDC,
• Nutrition assessment and counseling, and
• Information and education on childhood health, safety, Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHC) Pediatric Dental Program, NJ Snap (Food Stamps), etc.
