In their continuing efforts to combat auto and other theft, the six mayors of the municipalities of the Somerset Hills— Bedminster, Bernards Township, Bernardsville, Bridgewater, Far Hills and Peapack & Gladstone, New Jersey have joined forces to address the alarming increase in motor vehicle thefts throughout the Somerset Hills and in New Jersey as a whole.
At the recent New Jersey League of Municipalities (NJLM) conference in Atlantic City, NJ, the six mayors presented and sponsored a resolution supporting additional measures to combat auto theft. The resolution was reviewed, voted on and unanimously approved by the NJLM Resolutions Committee and will shortly be sent to Federal and State senators, congressmen, the governor, the President and the President-elect.
“It is our desire to see more strict measures be put in place by those in higher office than our own to combat the rampant increase in auto thefts in New Jersey.” said Mayor Mark Corigliano of the Borough of Peapack & Gladstone. The Somerset Hills Public Safety Committee, through this and other efforts, wish to firmly address the vexing issue of car thefts in the area.
