Senior Centers Offer Dancercise and Zumba Gold Classes

Have Fun Taking Steps to Better Health


Adults age 60 and above are invited to sign up for Zumba Gold and Dancercise classes at the Basking Ridge and Bridgewater Senior Wellness Centers. Start-off on the right foot in 2019 and dance your way to better health by enrolling in one of the fun, eight-week programs.

Dancercise begins Monday, Jan. 14, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., at the Senior Wellness Center at Basking Ridge, located at 202 Mt. Airy Road. The registration deadline is Friday, Jan. 11. Dancercise is a great low-impact way to strengthen your heart while dancing to popular music. Start with a warm up to avoid injury and finish with a cool-down. Sneakers are required. The cost is $40 for the eight-week program. To register, call (908) 204-3435.

Zumba Gold begins Friday, Jan. 11, from 1 to 1:45 p.m., at the Senior Wellness Center at Bridgewater, located at 876 E. Main St. The registration deadline is Wednesday, Jan. 9. This Latin-inspired workout uses dance moves to strengthen the heart by working the muscles of the hips, arms and legs. The class is accessible for anyone age 60 and above, beginners and others needing modifications to their exercise routine. Sneakers are required. The cost is $40 for the eight-week program. Somerset County Senior Wellness Centers at Basking Ridge and Bridgewater are operated by the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services. The multi-purpose facilities offer the opportunity for social engagement, free health screenings, exciting events, and interesting activities for the aging population.

Somerset County Senior Centers offer a wide range of experiences for active older adults in a social and uplifting atmosphere intended to positively impact the overall health of seniors. All county residents age 60 and above are welcome to participate in the many programs and activities that are available at any of the county-operated centers.
