County Clerk Expands Services During Extended Hours

SOMERVILLE - Somerset County Clerk Steve Peter announced that his office is now offering more services during extended office hours, which had previously been reserved only for passport applications.

The County Clerk’s Office, located in the county Administration Building at 20 Grove St., is open from 8:15 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. On Wednesday evenings, office hours are extended until 6 p.m. The office is also open on the first Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

“I am excited to offer a full range of services to the public whenever we are open,” said County Clerk Peter. “Work and family obligations often make it difficult for the public to get here during regular business hours. This will enable residents of Somerset County and surrounding areas to take advantage of our many services in the evening and on weekends.”

In addition to accepting passport applications, staff will now be available to administer notary public oaths, process Veteran and Gold Star family IDs and accept Vote By Mail applications. The Clerk’s public record room also will be open for those who wish to conduct property record and trade name searches.
