Nominations Sought for Excellence in the Arts Awards
Deadline is March 4
SOMERVILLE – Do you know an individual or organization that demonstrates exemplary leadership and dedication to the fine and performing arts in Somerset County? If so, Freeholder Brian G. Gallagher invites you to nominate them for the Somerset County Cultural and Heritage Commission’s 2019 Excellence in the Arts Awards. The deadline is Monday, March 4.
“The arts are important to society for many reasons. As a form of human expression, the fine and performing arts stimulate creative thinking, communicate across barriers and have a positive impact on our overall well-being and our economy,” said Freeholder Gallagher, commission liaison. “We encourage residents to nominate people and organizations that go above and beyond to encourage and support artists in Somerset County.”
Nomination forms are available by clicking on the link below, by visiting http://bit.ly/SCExcellArts or by contacting Natalie Zaman, program coordinator, at (908) 231-7021 or CulturalHeritage@co.somerset.nj.us.

Aspiring Young Artist: Nominate a Somerset County high school or college student who consistently demonstrates excellence in the fine or performing arts, aspires to a career in the arts and is a role model of good citizenship. One young artist will be selected to receive a $1,000 scholarship from the Friends of Somerset County Cultural & Heritage, Inc.
Award recipients will be honored at a ceremony that will be held Thursday, May 23, at the Green Brook Middle School Auditorium.
