Office on Aging Continues to Offer Farmers Market Vouchers - Eligible Residents Can Safely Pick Up Vouchers at Curbside

SOMERVILLE, NJ – The Office on Aging and Disability Services continue to offer farmers market vouchers worth $30 to eligible applicants during the month of August – the perfect time to buy fresh produce. Vouchers can only be used at participating farmers markets for the purchase of fresh New Jersey produce up to November 30. Vouchers will be given applicants on a first-come, first-serve basis and eligible recipients will be able to obtain their vouchers at curbside pickup. Residents who are interested in applying for vouchers must contact the Somerset County Office on Aging & Disability Services, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. County staff will be available to answer residents’ questions by phone, toll-free at 1-888-747-1122 or 908-704-6346.

Eligibility Requirements

Individuals must reside in Somerset County and be 60 years of age or older. An individual’s income cannot exceed $23,606, and a married couple’s income cannot exceed $31,894. Applicants will be required to sign a Self-Declaration of Income form, which states that he or she meets the income guidelines. To receive vouchers, applicants will also be required to fill out a registration form. This year, individuals will not have to provide proof of identity/residency or income.

Proxy (A representative for the applicant)

If participants are unable to visit any of the voucher pickup sites, they can send a representative to fill out their paperwork and receive his/her vouchers. The representative must be at least 16-years of age or older. A proxy can represent as many individuals as they choose. The proxy will not have to provide identification.

Drake Farm, Skillman; North Plainfield Farmers Market, North Plainfield.
