Tax Bills are usually mailed the end of June or the beginning of July. They include the final two quarters of the year and the first two quarters of the following year.
Added Assessment tax bills usually go out in October and are due on the 1st of November. You should have received a letter from the Tax Assessor explaining the assessment. Senior Citizen Programs
Several programs are available to Senior Citizens to reduce property taxes. If you are a qualified senior, over the age of 65 and earning less than $10,000 per year not including Social Security, you can receive $250.00 off of your property taxes by completing a Request for Senior Citizen Deduction form. Please stop by the tax office pick up an application form or call us and we will mail one to you.
The Property Tax Reimbursement forms, or Senior Tax Freeze, are usually mailed out at the beginning of March. This is the blue booklet labeled PTR-1 or PTR-2. The Tax Collector will be available most days until 4:30pm to help you complete these forms. For additional information on this program and other tax relief programs offered by the State of New Jersey, please call the State of New Jersey, Division of Taxation at 1-800-882-6597 or go to their web site at www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/relief.shtml.
The Homestead Rebate has seen many changes in the last couple of years. One of the major changes is that you no longer receive your refund in the form of a check. The Homestead Rebate is now applied to your property taxes. If you qualified, your tax bill will be adjusted accordingly. You should also receive notification from the state as to the amount of this credit. To file applications online, go to www.state.nj.us/treasury/taxation/relief.shtml. Any Homestead Rebate questions should be directed to the State at 1-888-238-1233 or you can email questions to nj.homesteadbenefit@treas.state.nj.us.
