Peapack and Gladstone Incidents- Week of 8/21/17-8/27/17

Monday 8/21/17 11:48 AM - Police received a call from a Gladstone resident requesting a check of their home. The caller, who was on vacation, claimed she was contacted on her cell phone and told that her home was going to be burglarized. Officers checked the residence, which was secure. The resident did not know who contacted her and made the claim.

Monday 8/21/17 4:41 PM - Police reported a hit and run motor vehicle crash in a Peapack business parking lot. The vehicle was parked in the lot on Saturday 8/19/17 at approximately 7:30 PM. The owner returned to the car on Monday afternoon to find that it had been struck. There was moderate damage to the vehicle. The identity of the driver of the other involved vehicle has not been determined.

Tuesday 8/22/17 8:17 PM - Due to heavy rain and wind, the Borough had several trees/limbs down in the areas of Main Street and Natirar Park as well as Willow Avenue. County and Peapack and Gladstone Public Works responded to clear roadways.

Thursday 8/24/17 1:35 AM - Police arrested 40 year old Tysheen S. Gott of Norwich, NY on an outstanding traffic warrant. Det. Anthony Damiano stopped a vehicle driver by Gott for failing to maintain his lane of travel. A check of Gott’s driver’s license uncovered the $165 warrant out of Lyndhurst Twp Municipal Court. Gott was placed under arrest, transported to Police HQ in Peapack, processed, and released.

Thursday 8/24/17 2:33 PM - Police received a call for a suspicious incident at a Peapack business. Cpl. Thomas Scanlon responded to the business and spoke with employees who explained what had occurred earlier in the day. A female employee found a package next to her vehicle which contained a note addressed to her and some toiletries. The female turned the items/note over to staff who in turn contacted Police. It was not known who left the items. Cpl. Scanlon and staff were able to use the camera system outside the building to track down the responsible party. The matter was left for staff to address with the employee.

Thursday 8/24/17 10:15 PM - Police arrested 46 year old Marie L. Beers of Randolph, NJ for an outstanding traffic warrant. Det. Anthony Damiano stopped Beers on Rt. 206 after conducting a random license plate inquiry which showed the $264 warrant out of Roxbury Twp Municipal Court. Beers was placed under arrest, transported to Police HQ in Peapack, processed, and released.

Friday 8/25/17 6:37 PM - Police, along with the Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad, responded to a Gladstone residence for a report of a fall victim. Upon arrival Police located the elderly female who advised she hurt her knee as a result of the fall. There was a doctor on location at the time. The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center by the PG First Aid Squad for evaluation.

Friday 8/25/17 8:14 PM - Police arrested 48 year old Barry W. Coffin, Jr of Hopatcong, NJ for Possession of Marijuana. Coffin, Jr was stopped on Rt. 206 for Speeding by Ofc. Adam Caruso. Ofc. Caruso detected the odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Coffin admitted to having marijuana in the vehicle. He was placed under arrested after Ofc. Caruso located the marijuana inside the vehicle. Coffin, Jr was transported to Police HQ in Peapack where he was processed and released. He was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Possession of CDS in a Motor Vehicle, and Speeding.

Saturday 8/26/17 7:14 AM - Officers and the Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad were dispatched to a Peapack residence for a report of an elderly male feeling ill. Upon arriving Police were informed that the male was unable to urinate. Officers stood by until the PG First Aid Squad arrived and transported the victim to RWJB-Somerset Hospital.

Saturday 8/26/17 12:09 PM - Police were dispatched to a Gladstone residence for a report of a person choking. Cpl. Owen Duff arrived to find that a female at the residence had been choking, but had manage to clear the food from her throat. The Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad arrived and checked the victim who declined any further medical attention.

Saturday 8/26/17 9:16 PM - Police arrested 30 year old Ray W. Olsen of New Milford, NJ for Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence of Liquor or Drugs. Ofc. Adam Caruso stopped Olsen for speeding on Rt. 206 (83/50). Caruso detected the odor of alcohol coming from within Olsen’s vehicle. Olsen failed several field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Olsen consented to breath tests which yielded a result of 0.13% Blood Alcohol Content. Olsen was issued summonses for Driving Under the Influence of Liquor of Drugs, Reckless Driving, Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and Speeding. Olsen was processed and released to a responsible party.

Sunday 8/27/17 10:29 PM - Police and the Peapack-Gladstone First Aid Squad responded to a Gladstone residence for a report of a male experiencing difficulty breathing. The victim was also experiencing a rapid heart rate. The PG First Aid Squad arrived and assumed patient care. The victim was transported to Morristown Medical Center for further evaluation.
